Night Market Pop-Ups

By James McNamara

One of Los Angeles’ most inviting destinations for shopping, dining, and community is the Original Farmers Market. Located at the corner of 3rd and Fairfax a block away from the LA County Museum of Art and the La Brea Tar Pits, the farmers’ market has been a local institution since 1934, visited by nearly a century’s worth of celebrities from Marilyn Monroe to Frank Sinatra.

This July, the Market marked an extraordinary milestone: its 90th anniversary. To honor nine decades of food, culture, and connection, Market organizers introduced The Night Market — a special evening celebration that transformed the traditional daytime plaza into a vibrant after-hours festival filled with music, food, shopping, and pop-ups.

Night Market Details

  • What: A tribute to the Market’s 90th birthday, part of its official birthday month.
  • When & Where: Thursday, July 18, from 6–9 PM at the Original Farmers Market Plaza.
  • Atmosphere: Live DJs spinning 90s hits; dancing under the evening sky; locals and vendors gathering to enjoy food, art, and community.
  • Vendor spotlight: In addition to the longtime, permanent merchants, the Night Market featured local Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) vendors—boutiques, creatives, and makers who often sell online or via social media. It was an opportunity for them to connect face-to-face with the neighborhood.
  • Entertainment & perks: DJ Ricky Rocks opened the evening with 90s classics. Later, DJ Daisy O’Dell mixed up a set spanning Britpop, hip-hop, and electro. Free parking was available for 90 minutes with purchase validation.

Night Market Pop-Up Vendors

Here are some of the pop-ups who joined The Night Market:

  • Andie Gechtman Studio: Contemporary art, clothing, jewelry designs
  • Merch Motel: Retro-inspired hats, t-shirts, pins
  • Dapper Day: Vintage apparel / up-cycled fashions
  • WL Handmade: Custom leather shoes and purses (also a permanent Farmers Market merchant)
  • Androhmeda Jewelry
  • Alberly Sombreros
  • RetroFitted LA
  • Yoho Florist

Los Angeles thrives because of events like The Night Market. They highlight what makes this city special: creativity, entrepreneurship, community, and a love for places with character. If you missed this event, not to worry. It’s guaranteed that the Original Farmers Market will be doing more celebrations like this, especially as the 100th anniversary comes up.

The Original Farmers Market is less than a 15 minute drive away from Larchmont Village down Beverly Blvd. Take a day and enjoy this LA tradition, and also stop by the Larchmont Farmers’ Market on Beverly Blvd and Larchmont Blvd. Held year-round, our local market features a wide selection of produce and helps to anchor our community. It’s just part of the rich fabric that holds Los Angeles and Larchmont Village together.
